Director: Connie Gerrow

Dr Connie Gerrow is a heritage and built‑environment specialist with over a decade of experience leading major conservation, education and engagement projects. She combines strong strategic programme expertise with deep sector knowledge, informed by her PhD in Historic Building Conservation and roles across heritage, government and academia.

Connie's Story

Dr Connie Gerrow has over a decade of experience in the heritage and built conservation sector. From 2015 to 2022, she served as Heritage Projects Officer at Ulster Architectural Heritage, where she led major initiatives including the 'Mournes and Me schools’ education programme, the Heritage at Risk project, and Hands-On Heritage.

Connie is currently the Research Engagement Officer at Ulster University, supporting researchers across their academic careers by designing and delivering structured development programmes such as training pathways, mentoring schemes, sabbaticals, and the annual Research Excellence Awards. She brings strong expertise in project planning, strategic programme development, and collaborative partnership working, contributing to a positive and ambitious research culture across the institution.

Alongside her university role, Connie has expertise in heritage, architecture, and the built environment as a long‑standing member of the Historic Buildings Council for Northern Ireland 2020-2024, advising on architectural history, industrial heritage, and regional planning.​ With professional strengths spanning stakeholder and event management, communications, report writing, data analysis, and the use of research tools and digital systems, Connie is passionate about connecting people, ideas, and opportunities.

Connie holds a PhD in Historic Building Conservation (2018), completed in partnership with Historic Environment Scotland and the Department for Communities NI, where she assessed stone conservation surface treatments as moisture‑management practices. She also holds an MSc in Heritage Science (2012) and a BA (Hons) in Ancient History and Archaeology (2011).
